About Me
Welcome to one Lesbian’s View of the World. I’m a registered Nurse. I make my living as a Travel Nurse and my specialty area is the ER. I started working in Nursing in 1991, and I still love it. It has however, changed my views on many issues and while I am socially liberal, I have some conservative fiscal views that sometimes place me at odds with other people in the GLBT community.
I don’t make apologies for those views, but also don’t represent them as being the only views that matter or make sense. I recognize that I spend a great deal of my life in a setting where I see a lot of abuse of the medical system, and experience first hand the effects of drug abuse, alcohol abuse, violence, just plain stupidity. It has without a doubt colored my views on issues that relate to how my tax dollars get spent, and just how much rope we should give some people before we pull on the noose.
My partner and I have been together for 7 years, and I am proud of her, us, our life together. I came out late in life, and I’ve seen first hand the destruction that a gay person trying to lead a straight life can leave in their wake.
I hope you’ll find something here that makes you laugh, cry, angry, or just makes you think. I love a good conversation, but I don’t waste much time on pointless argument with people who can’t at least admit that MAYBE they aren’t perfect, which means, they MIGHT be wrong. That includes me.
Disclaimer: Nothing written on this blog is intended to diagnose or treat any illness or ailment. If you are seeking medical advice about a specific problem, my best advice to you is to seek a professional medical opinion from a qulaified physician. I am NOT a nurse to you on this blog, and I am not acting as your nurse specifically. I cannot see you, I cannot assess you, and I cannot give you any advise as a nurse, except as stated above – see your doctor.
Any reference made on this site that pertains to my professional career is anecdotal, and any similarity to your personal experiences is purely by chance. I am HIPPA compliant, and any names or identifying information has been changed. Situations referenced are a melding of many experiences and not a single individual encounter. If you think I’m am talking about you or your case, you are wrong. I am not.
This blog is a personal endeavor, and has nothing to do with my professional life as a Nurse. I do try to post information on Health issues of interest to Gay and Lesbian people, but it does not represent my personal advice or experience in any way.
